Curriculum
CLA has been fortunate to have the opportunity to create the school the original visionaries designed. A school rich in curricula to support the Core Knowledge Sequence®, the researched based and proven Success for All reading program, Riggs reading and writing, math, technology lab providing 27 computers, technology in every classroom, a diverse collection of reading materials, hands-on support materials and manipulatives. The school's visionaries believe that CLA's combination of the Core Knowledge Sequence®, civic and service learning, character education, English immersion, and an emphasis on a school culture centered on academic success will propel its students toward academic excellence.
The school has attracted the population intended with over 80% of students considered at-risk. Serving this population and providing them with the Core Knowledge Sequence® curriculum is very exciting and rewarding. Many students are being exposed to topics, information, and insight that they have never learned about before. CLA emphasizes that all students deserve to be fully challenged and motivated to succeed and believes that self-esteem derives from true achievement.
The school's curriculum is aligned with Colorado State Model Content Standards to ensure success in meeting state goals.
